Brad Bennett with TrailSpring (http://trailspring.org/) will introduce their Dirt 66 Mountain Biking Project
Dirt 66 is a Master Design Plan dedicated to creating a world-class trail system in Springfield MO, for residents and tourists alike. Dirt 66 is a natural surface trail in 6 green zones located in North Springfield. These natural surface trails are designed for hiking, running, and biking, and while they will be multi-use, trails will be optimized for mountain biking. One of our tasks was to not only design natural surface trail, but to incorporate greenway and on-road connections to each zone as well. This attention to connectivity will provide safe passage between zones and redefine the possibility of alternative transportation. Because of the location of the trail system, and because Springfield is the birthplace of Route 66, we chose to name the system Dirt 66.
Agenda: 6pm dinner, 6:30pm club business, 7pm presentation, 8pm dismiss.
